Asian phone makers love to create additional layers on top of stock Android, and MIUI from Xiaomi is perhaps the most popular distribution among them. The latest version of this skin aka MIUI 11 was accidentally teased by the OEM itself long before public release.
On September 24, the company officially unveiled the eleventh iteration of MIUI in China. Global release took some more days, as Xiaomi started to rollout new builds in a gradual manner from late October.
As the version of MIUI is not directly correlated with the underlying Android layer, Xiaomi engineers kickstarted the development of the next major release. In fact, Xu Jieyun, General Manager of Public Relations in Xiaomi did confirm that the OEM began working on the successor to MIUI 11.
Cut to now, the ‘MIUI 12’ branding as well as the logo are official – thanks to a surprising teaser made via the official handle of MIUI in Weibo.
Moreover, Google also shared a roadmap which depicts that Google will be rolling out six releases before the stable Android 11 update rolls out for the public in Q3 of 2020.
Following that, in another report, we have highlighted the features that MIUI 12 is expected to bring, like the system-wide dark mode, 16:9 display support, new GUI, multiple clone app support, etc.
And if we go by the recent development, a post regarding the MIUI 12 (Android 11) went online on the official community website of Xiaomi titled “MIUI 12 Official and Update schedule” that states the entire timeline of the rollout of the MIUI 12 (Android 11) for Xiaomi devices starting from September.
